If you’re working with a contingent of youth athletes you can most definitely utilise effective and appropriate variations of plyometric training. Most sports require participants to produce force, hence the requirement to improve strength. We must also remember that most sports require said athlete to not only produce large forces but to do it at next level speed… This is where plyometric training can benefit as it primarily allows rate of force development to be improved. So whether our young athletes are swimmers, martial artists, cross country runners , tennis players etc, they will all be going through some form of progressive plyo training.
